Therapeutic Massage

Studies have shown that your daily life stressors directly affect your immune system. Therapeutic Massage assists you in eliminating these stressors and promoting healthful relaxation. This, in turn, allows you to function in an optimal state of health and balance.

Balanced Concepts in Health specializes in the treatment of chronic pain, offering:

  • Swedish / Relaxation Massage
  • NMT / Deep Tissue Massage
  • Active-Isolated Stretching
  • CranioSacral Therapy
  • Visceral Manipulation
  • Myofascial Release
  • Sports Massage
  • Aromatherapy
  • Shiatsu

Proven benefits of massage include:

  • Promotes healing by increasing blood and oxygen supply to the muscles
  • Stretching and elongation of tissues to increase flexibility
  • Decreased blood pressure
  • Overall sense of peace and well-being

As part of your treatment, we will also discuss with you the importance of posture, ergonomics, exercise, stretching, water intake and proper nutrition. Therapeutic Massage, as well as any type of bodywork, is just one piece of the puzzle in eliminating pain patterns. After your massage session you will be given a handout to take home with basic information as to what to expect for the remainder of the day and into the next. Physiological changes will be taking place as a result of the bodywork and it is best if you help facilitate the positive effects.

Massage therapists are required to be licensed and carry liability insurance in the state of Florida and are regulated by the Department of Professional Regulation. In many other states, there are no licensing requirements or regulations of any kind.

Through tremendous efforts of the Florida State Massage Therapy Association, massage therapy is now gaining respect from the medical profession here in the state of Florida. Scientific studies have demonstrated the positive benefits of massage as an alternative or complement to other types of physiotherapy (such as Chiropractic or Physical Therapy).

As a result, some insurance companies will now pay for treatments if prescribed by a physician. You should speak with your physician if you wish to try therapeutic massage as treatment for your condition.
